Thank you to everyone who came down for the launch on 2nd December, which would have been Simon's 45th birthday. It was wonderful to see so many people there despite the bad weather and the Millwall vs Bristol City match causing traffic chaos!
When a small group of us first embarked on this project over a year ago, none of us really understood quite what we were getting ourselves into. It’s certainly been challenging at times but it’s also been incredibly humbling to watch so many of Simon’s family, friends, colleagues and the wider community come together to achieve this in his memory. We have to remember this all started with a simple idea, from which has grown this network of wonderful people, all of whom have contributed time, money, materials, skills and support to build what you can see here, Simon’s Place - a home for someone in need. More importantly, we have to remember that simple idea was Simon’s. He was a caring, gentle man who always did his best to help others and believed that together we could do anything. It’s a testament to how much he was loved that Simon's Place has become a reality.
Thank you, Simon, for motivating us to come together and do something amazing. You’ve always been the heart of the project and we truly couldn’t have done it without you.
